Sited on the eastern approach to Llangollen, this 5.5 metre sculpture marks the boundary of the town.

Llangollen is a well known entry point to North Wales.
Now a centre for the arts and tourism, it was once a busy industrial town, transporting slate and goods by canal and railways. Charcoal produced from the Hawthorn was the iron smelters’ preferred fuel because of the heat produced. The steep valley sides were harvested of their hardwoods for the early iron works in the area.
